Nipple Care

Products that support skin and tissue recovery on the nipple and areola. The right product depends on what is happening: surface dryness, friction injury, deep wound healing, or thrush all call for different approaches. None of these products substitute for addressing the underlying cause, which is usually latch, fit, or pump mechanics.

Creams, balms, and wound-healing options

  • Lansinoh HPA Lanolin

A medical-grade lanolin nipple cream that has been the reference product in the category for decades. Used for general nipple soreness and minor cracking. Safe for the baby and does not need to be wiped off before feeding. Some families with wool allergies prefer lanolin-free alternatives.

  • Motherlove Nipple Cream (1 oz, Organic, Lanolin-Free)

A plant-based balm without lanolin. Useful for routine moisture and minor irritation. Lanolin-free formulas are useful for families avoiding wool products or who do not tolerate lanolin.

  • Mother’s Promise Organic Nipple Cream (2 oz)

A plant-based cream similar in function to Motherlove. Differences are in scent and texture; clinical function is comparable.

  • Dr. Nice’s All Natural Hydrogel Nipple Care (1 oz)

A lanolin-free & vegan nipple gel that is cooling to reduce pain. Plant-based ingredients.

  • Tiny Human Supply Co. Nipple Crack Balm

A heavier balm intended for cracked or compromised tissue. Thicker than the creams above. Useful when surface protection is needed during healing.

A multi-purpose balm formulated for nipple, lip, and small wound care. Practical for families wanting a single product that works for more than one use.

  • Jadelute Cabbage Cream

A topical cream containing cabbage-derived compounds, used for engorgement, clogged ducts, and weaning support. Cabbage has a long history of use for engorgement. Clinical evidence is mixed but it is a low-risk option that some families find helpful.

  • Motherlove Diaper Balm

Included here because the same plant-based formulation is used safely on diaper area and on the nipple. Useful for families wanting a single product across uses.

  • Medihoney Paste, Wound & Burn Care

A sterile medical-grade honey paste for wound healing on cracked or deeply damaged nipple tissue. Different from food-grade honey. Used in cases where standard creams are not sufficient and the tissue needs antimicrobial wound support.
