Lactation Supplements

Supplements that may support milk production, milk flow, and breast tissue health. Supplements work for some people and not others, and they are not the first thing to reach for when supply is the concern. Effective frequency and milk removal, latch quality, and clinical evaluation for underlying issues come first. Supplements are an adjunct.

Galactagogues

Supplements that may support milk production. Effectiveness varies by individual.

  • Go-Lacta Organic Moringa

Moringa is one of the better-studied galactagogue herbs. Available as capsules or as a powder that can be added to food and drinks.

  • Legendairy Milk Cash Cow

A blend including moringa, alfalfa, and goat’s rue. Fenugreek-free, which matters for some families.

  • Legendairy Milk Lechita

A fenugreek-free blend with fennel and anise. An option for parents who do not tolerate fenugreek or for whom fenugreek has reduced supply.

  • Legendairy Milk Pump Princess

A flow-support supplement formulated for pumping sessions specifically. May be useful for parents whose primary feeding pattern is pumping.

  • Lactation Hub MilkWorks IR+

A formulation combining moringa with inositol and beta glucans, intended for milk production support. Inositol-containing formulations may be useful for parents with insulin resistance or PCOS, where supply is often affected by underlying metabolic factors.

  • Legendairy Milk Liquid Gold

Contains Organic goat’s rue (herb), organic milk thistle (seed), organic shatavari (root), organic fennel (seed), organic alfalfa (leaf), and organic anise (seed). May be useful for parents with insulin resistance, PCOS or IGT.

  • Motherlove More Milk Plus contains fenugreek

A fenugreek-based blend. Fenugreek works for some parents and not others. In a minority, it can reduce supply. Discuss with your provider before starting if you have a history of low supply, hypothyroidism, or GI sensitivity.

Other supplements

  • Legendairy Milk Sunflower Lecithin

Used to support fat dispersion in milk, which can help with recurrent clogged ducts. Standard dose is 1200mg one to four times daily depending on history. We don’t recommend using this on a daily basis.

  • WishGarden Happy Ducts

An herbal tincture used during active clogged ducts and to reduce duct inflammation. Faster-acting than lecithin for some parents. The two are often used together.
